Geplaatst 18 oktober 20159 jr. Thanks, Vincent. This one is also two different programmes. Firstly Mike Ross from 13.21 to 14.08 (with Alan West on news at 14.00). This programme is from the week commencing 14 September 1970, but not from 19 September 1970, which was a Saturday. Mike keeps saying how long you have to get back to work from your lunch break, which implies that it is a weekday, and then says that he will be doing the lunchtime show until Spangles Muldoon returns, probably on Friday. This is probably therefore from the period 14 to 16 September 1970. Then there is Stephen Ladd from about 11.37 to 12.00. This is also from September 1970, but the only clue as to the date is that "Tears of a clown" is at no. 4, which puts it between 7 and 12 September 1970. Regards Michael
Geplaatst 18 oktober 20159 jr. Auteur Thanks Michael. The next one is intresting. It is a Top 30 from the period we don't have any written charts. That means I not only want the time of the program, but also the chart info of the recording. RNI-19700705-AlanWest-Top30

The first one is from the start of the International Service at 19.00 until about 19.48, the second from 20.14 to 20.44. Tony Allan reads news on the half hour in both segments. Regards Michael Hello Michael, will you please listen again to the first part. There's a cut just after the Skoll commercial at 19.34. My conclusion is that the first hour ended at 19.34 The rest of the recording is an large part from the second hour that ended at 20.44 best wishes, Hans

Geplaatst 19 oktober 20159 jr. Firstly, thanks to Hans and Jean-Pierre for the correction on the Terry Davis times from 1 June 1972 - I missed the break in the tape at 19.34. The Spangles Muldoon/Alan West programmes are: 1. Spangles Muldoon from 22.54 to 23.00 on 23 September 1970, followed by Alan West from 23.00 to 23.11 from the same evening and then Spangles Muldoon again from 7.45 to 8.11 on 24 September 1970 2. This is from several months earlier and not Spangles or Alan. It starts with Mark Wesley from 8.38 to 9.00 test broadcasting on 244 metres, so from the period shortly after 13 May 1970, but there is no clue as to the day of the week in this programme segment. This is followed by Duncan Johnson from 13.00 to 13.10 on 190 metres, so in the period 10 to 15 April 1970. Regards Michael
Geplaatst 19 oktober 20159 jr. You finished some minutes earlier Michael. =) Many thanks! I did have the Mark Wesley programme and that was dated on: 15 May 1970. Don't asked me why, because there is no clue as you wrote. The same with the Duncan Johnson recording which is from 12 April 1970 and the time is 0058-0110 (AM-time) best wishes, Hans

Geplaatst 21 oktober 20159 jr. This is Crispian St John from 22.00 to 23.00 on 12 September 1971. Crispian says that it is his second programme of the evening, which is right as he also presented the British Top 20 on that Sunday from 19.00 to 21.00 according to my records. Regards Michael

Geplaatst 22 oktober 20159 jr. Thanks, Vincent. These are Dave Rogers, but not from 26 August 1972 - they are from 29 August 1971. The timing of the first one is 00.03 to 00.49. I can fix the date because Tony Ronald's "Help get me some help" is one of the brand new Smash Plays (these changed on Saturday and Tony Ronald became Smash Play on 28 August 1971) and also because it had been rough on the North Sea - my records for that day say that both Dave Rogers and Mark Stuart had been suffering from the stormy conditions. The second, shorter piece is a continuation of the same programme from about 00.52 to 1.03, but with the news cut out. The last six or so minutes of this recording is a series of jingles and programme segments from Manx Radio from around the same time. Regards Michael

Geplaatst 24 oktober 20159 jr. I don't think I will be able to determine either the date or time of these Horst Reiner/Elke/Hannibal broadcasts, as there are no clues in either of the files. Both files seem to be comprised of more than one piece and all of the pieces sound as if they are from before Roger Day arrived on board the Mebo 2, so somewhere in the period between 23 January 1970 and 17 February 1970. Fairly early in the first piece there is the promo which Roger Day made which was played before he arrived on board to present his first programmes, which would imply that that piece is from early to mid-February 1970, but I won't be able to get any more precise, I'm afraid. Maybe Hans or Eric can work out more than I can on these two? Regards Michael

These tapes were fillers recorded in Zurich and played at various points during the tests and before Roger Day arrived. Horst Reiner and Hannibal were aboard at this point (Elkie was never on the ship) and probably used these tapes when they needed a break.
Geplaatst 24 oktober 20159 jr. I also agree with Michael. I can not interpret this recording more precisely. Very difficult this time. regards, Hans

The 1st Year of Operation. Introduction written by Roland C. Pearson During January 1970 rumours were rife in the free radio world that a new radio-ship was shortly to arrive upon the scene, it was said that she would be equipped with Short-Wave, as well as Medium-Wave & FM transmitters. I must admit that I took all this with a pinch of salt, but I made a point of regularly checking the wavebands, just in case! Then at 9.25 on the morning of January 28th I picked up a test transmission on 6210 kHz in the 49 metre-band. The first voice that I heard on the air was that of Elke, who made an announcement in German between every record, she was using a very catchy tune as a talk-over, which I later found cut was "Man of Action" by The Les Reed Orchestra. Shortly afterwards she was joined by Hannibal and Horst Reiner, Hannibal gave some station idents in English and asked for listeners reports to be sent to P.O Box 113, 8047 Zurich, Switzerland. I stayed tuned to the station until tea-time when it faded out. Another SW test: RNI-1970000-AlanWest-HorstReiner-ShortwaveTest
Geplaatst 24 oktober 20159 jr. This is two different programme segments. First Alan West from 10.56 to 11.00 GMT on the World Service from 23 September 1970. The rest is another test transmission from January or February 1970 with Horst Reiner, but again with no way of working out time or date information. This programme has no Roger Day promo, so I would say it is from late January 1970 or early February 1970. Regards Michael
